Jossie Tamsil

Research Specialist
Jossie received her Bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley, where she cultivated a curiosity for science and research. She did her undergraduate thesis with Noah Whiteman on the evolution of phage-derived immune factors in Drosophila. Since then, she has become interested in uncovering the roles that viruses play in shaping the evolution of both vertebrate and invertebrate immune systems. As a Junior Specialist in Jeannette’s lab, she aims to expand her skills in molecular biology and bioinformatics while investigating patterns of evolutionary arms races.
Jossie grew up in the Bay Area, and in her free time she enjoys hiking and biking throughout the nearby mountains. She also loves painting, finding inspiration in the natural and microscopic world, with aspirations to create art for science communication.
